Safely enjoy this cookie-baking season with the following tips:

Resist the urge to eat (or feed others) raw cookie dough or cake batter.
While it may be delicious, keep in mind the risks of consuming raw eggs.  Even with egg-free recipes, it is best to avoid raw dough or batter of any kind.
Remember to wash your hands with soap and water after handling eggs!
Wash and sanitize your baking equipment.
To prevent cross-contamination, be sure to wash, sanitize and wipe down each of the following items immediately after every single use:
  • Bowls
  • Utensils
  • Appliances
  • Gadgets & Cookie Cutters
  • Bakeware
  • Countertops
Clean and sanitize cooking and food prep surfaces, especially countertops.
Use a bleach-based sanitizing spray or wipes to ensure you kill all bacteria that could be lurking anywhere you’ve prepared food.
Keep perishable items in the refrigerator at all times.
Once you’ve used your ingredients, stash them back in the fridge to keep them fresh!
If you’re unsure how long something has been sitting outside of the fridge…
…when in doubt, throw it out!
When it comes to food safety, you can never be too cautious! Follow these steps to ensure you and your family have a safe and healthy holiday!
