This month, we're featuring a resource on pedestrian safety to get you thinking about how you can protect yourself when you're out for a stroll!
But do you know the health benefits of walking?
Several Harvard studies show :
- Walking at least nine miles a week was linked to a 22% lower death rate.
- Walking at least 30 minutes a day was linked to an 18% lower risk of coronary artery disease.
- Walking at least three hours a week was linked to a 35% lower risk of heart attack and cardiac death and a 34% lower risk of stroke.
"walking briskly can lower your risk of high blood pressure, high cholesterol and diabetes as much as running," - AHA
Take the hint! Get good sneakers and get out there! It's so worth it.
