Cyclist killed after riding through red light

Comments (0)

A 61 year old man was killed in Lakewood this past Monday, when he attempted to cross Route 70 on his bike. Law enforcement has stated that he blew through a red light at approximately 3:20 PM, resulting in the crash that claimed his life. The other party involved was a 38 year old woman driving a 2014 Kia. No names have been released and charges have not been filed against the driver. Anyone who witnessed the crash has been asked to contact Lakewood Police at (732) 363-0200.

Although one may never know what caused the cyclist to disregard the red light, we cannot stress the importance of staying alert whenever you're on the road. Driving, biking, skating or walking - if you're out using public roads and spaces, you're at risk of a collision. Your life may be in the hands of others, so please, don't take your eyes off the road. Your life, and the lives of others, depends on it.
