Outbridge Crossing - In May 2015, our client was traveling eastbound in the right hand lane of the Outer Bridge Crossing. The defendant was traveling eastbound down in the left hand land of the Outer Bridge Crossing when he failed to notice our client who had the right-of-way when making a lane change and struck our client’s vehicle. The defendant admitted to police officer who investigated the accident that he had been drinking that night at a friend's house and that he was buzzed. The defendant was then subsequently convicted of driving while intoxicated. As a result of the accident, our client sustained injuries to his neck. Once the client was done treating, our office attempted to settle the claim with the defendant’s insurance carrier and they refused to resolve the claim. Our office also discovered that the defendant was underinsured. Our office filed a lawsuit and added a claim for underinsured motorist benefits. Shortly after our office filed the complaint and served the defendant, they offered their policy limits to settle the claim and our client’s underinsured motorist carrier then provided the client with additional funds shortly there after.
