On Friday, March 02, 2012 Andrew Adell, a former Manalapan police officer, was sentenced to probation as a result of a motor vehicle accident that occurred on March 6, 2011. Adell admitted he was driving while intoxicated at that time. He attempted to make a right turn, but swerved off the road and struck another vehicle head-on. Robert Felix, the driver of the other vehicle and a Monmouth County corrections officer, suffered serious injuries as a result. In December 2011, Adell pled guilty. He had to leave his job as part of his plea agreement and also had his license suspended for seven months.
On Monday morning, March 5, 2012, Stanley and Carol Gorski were killed after they drove their Chevrolet pick-up truck into a tree off of Route 70.
MAYS LANDING, N.J. (WTW) — A southern New Jersey man who allegedly was driving drunk when he caused a three-vehicle accident that killed a young boy last year has been indicted on numerous charges, including aggravated manslaughter and vehicular homicide.
William Liepe of Hamilton Township also was charged with assault by auto and aggravated assault in the indictment handed up by an Atlantic County grand jury.
Nine-year-old Ryan Schleyer was killed in the April 10 crash in Hamilton, while two others were seriously injured.
Prosecutors say the 58-year-old Liepe rear-ended a vehicle Schleyer was riding in, sending it into oncoming traffic. It was then struck by a sport utility vehicle.

A Jersey City police officer was injured when he was in his cruiser and drove into a parked car. His police cruiser was heavily damaged on the front end where he struck the parked vehicle. The struck vehicle was also damaged, as was a third vehicle that was parked in front of the first parked car, due to forward movement from the force of impact. The currently unknown police officer was taken to the Jersey City Medical Center.
Around 5:00 AM this morning, a tractor trailor rear-ended a horse trailer that was being pulled by a pick-up truck. The force from impact caused the pick-up truck to rear-end the tractor trailor that was driving in front of it. The driver of the pick-up truck was flown to Trenton to be treated at Capital Health Center. The three horses and one donkey that was in the trailor were in stable condition and were taken to a private farm. The Southbound lanes were reopened by 10:30AM.
On Saturday, February 25th, 2012, Claudine Pierrelous (age 21) was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital on a State Police Helicopter following an auto-accident. As she was driving on the Garden State Parkway, a tire from a 1996 Dodge Dakota came off and hit the windshield of her Toyota Camry. The Dakota drove into the Northbound lanes, causing other vehicles to brake. Pierrelous' vehicle struck one of the braking vehicles then swerved into a wall.
On Sunday, February 19th, 2012, Agustin Ramirez Carmona damaged three vehicles while driving drunk. Carmona was driving intoxicated and initially hit a parked Ford Taurus. He then continued driving and struck a parked Ford F-150. From the impact, the F-150 was pushed into parked Hyundai Accent. Carmona had no insurance, drivers license, or registration. Carmona was arrested and was placed under an Immigrations and Customs Enforcement detainer.
A northbound vehicle crossed into the southbound lane and collided with three vehicles around 6:39 a.m., Hardyston Police Lt. Scott Lobban said.
"(The vehicle) collided with three southbound vehicles, which culminated in a pickup (truck) being overturned on its roof," Lobban said.
Hardyston police and fire departments responded to the scene. The fire department had to extricate a male from the overturned pickup truck. The male was transported to an unspecified hospital for a head injury, Lobban said.
The driver of an Audi, a man, sustained facial injuries and was taken to Newton Medical Center. Two females-- one in a Jeep and the other in a Toyota Prius-- sustained no injuries from the accident, Lobban said.
Police directed traffic onto Silver Grove Road to bypass the accident from about 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. By about 11 a.m., the scene had been mostly cleared except for the Audi, which was smashed in the front. A salt truck was brought to the scene in the morning to spread salt to absorb fluids that were leaking from the vehicles.
Lobban said the Sussex County Accident Reconstruction Team came to the scene to take measurements and collect information.
"We contacted the (Sussex County) Prosecutor's Office and a team came out as a precautionary measure," Lobban said.
But, after speaking to Detective Sgt. Thomas McCormick of the county prosecutor's office, the accident was turned back to the Hardyston Police Department to investigate, Lobban said.
As of Thursday afternoon, Hardyston police had not charged anyone involved in the accident. Patrolman Brad Worman is continuing to investigate.
Lobban said although it is still unclear as to why the accident happened, he didn't see icy road conditions at the scene.
"The charges are pending, Lobban said. "They are investigating and piecing it
together."
A car making a left out of a shopping center parking lot was struck by a Township of Old Bridge pick-up truck. The pick-up truck swerved out of control, jumped the curb, and struck three parked vehicles totaling at least one of the vehicle. Both drivers were transported by ambulance to local hospitals. Be careful coming out driveways and parking lots...you never know who is coming down the road at a higher rate of speed than allowed!
Seeing accidents like this makes me want to review my auto insurance policy. If the driver of the pick-up truck was responsible for carrying his own insurance policy and he carried the minimum of $5,000 for property damage as required by law, not only would the driver of the other vehicle be out of luck, but the owners of the parked cars would also be out of luck and would have to call their insurance companies for coverage!
During the holidays, please drive safely! Your safety and the safety of others depends on it!
