One man was taken to the hospital Monday afternoon after a motor vehicle accident on Route 1 where the driver's car slid about 100 feet while partially on top of the traffic divider.
At 11:40 a.m., a middle aged male was heading south on Route 1 and looked off to the right, failing to notice that traffic had come to a stop in front of him, according to police.
When the driver glanced back and tried to stop, he swerved to the left, clipped another vehicle and hit the divider. The front and rear wheels of the car moved up on top of the divider, according to police. The vehicle then slid about 100 feet with two wheels on the road and two wheels on the divider before it clipped another vehicle and overturned on to the roof, police said.
The Kendall Park Volunteer Fire Department responded to the scene and was able to extricate the driver shortly after noon, according to police. The driver was wearing a seat belt and sustained non-life threatening injuries. He was transported to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital by South Brunswick EMS and paramedics.
There were no other injuries sustained.
