Sayreville, NJ - According to local officials, the Monday morning crash on January 22nd in Sayreville was the result of a drowsy driver. A woman was coming off a 12-hour overnight shift and was on her way home when she fell asleep at the wheel, causing her to rear-end a parked State Police vehicle. The police car was parked on a construction detail on Route 35, near Costa Verde, when it was struck by the drowsy driver. The officer was taken to a local hospital, reporting back pain. The driver was not criminally charged and it is not known if she was ticketed.
