Keansburg cyclist seriously injured in Atlantic Highlands hit-and-run. Information sought on driver.
Atlantic Highlands, NJ - A 49-year-old bicyclist was riding on Ocean Boulevard in Atlantic Highlands on Monday evening when he was struck by a passing car. The accident occurred at approximately 3:50PM on Monday, when the cyclist was struck with such a force, it sent him careening over the guardrail and down a steep embankment, where he lay for some time, until regaining enough strength to climb up and out, and flag for help. The cyclist was airlifted to Jersey Shore University Medical Center with severe injuries to his leg and head. The driver of the vehicle, described as a dark-colored Dodge Ram pick-up, fled the scene and has yet to be located. Officials are seeking information on the driver and are asking for anyone who witnessed or has information to come forward.
