October 10th is known as “Put the Brakes on Fatalities Day,” a nationally recognized annual program dedicated to safe driving. During this event, law enforcement encourages drivers, pedestrians, bicyclists and motorcyclists to be extra cautious to avoid fatalities on that day.
Sadly, that was not to be this year.
On Tuesday, a 62 year old woman from Princeton was killed when she was struck by a cement truck as she was crossing Washington Road.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Nassau Street at approximately 4:45 PM, late Tuesday afternoon.
The victim was crossing at the designated crosswalk when the truck, traveling west on Nassau Street, attempted to make a left turn onto Washington Road. According to police, the victim died at the scene, the truck driver was not injured.
The accident remains under investigation and the Princeton police are asking any witnesses to call 609-921-2100, ext. 1879.
