Newark, NJ - Three children were struck by a car on their way to school on Wednesday, March 22. The accident took place on the corner of West Kinney and Howard streets at 7:50 AM. The children - ages 3, 4 and 8 - injured but listed in stable condition, were treated and released from University Hospital. The driver was issued a summons for failure to yield to pedestrians. This intersection is no stranger to danger. Since March 23rd, there have been 165 various moving violations documented at the spot. As a result of the accident, law enforcement officials are considering additional traffic control measures, including the installation of speed bumps and increased officer presence, to prevent further incidents.
